Download Overdrive to your Phone

The Overdrive App allows you to enjoy eBooks from your phone. Anywhere you go, your book will be there! 

  • Open the App Store or Play Store on your phone and locate the the Overdrive App. Look for the blue icon with a white O in center.
  • Download Overdrive.
  • On your phone's home screen, tap the Overdrive Icon to open the App.

Sign Up for Overdrive

Open the Overdrive App and select the SIGN UP button.

On the next page, select Sign up using library card. Search for "Davidson County Community College" on the Find your Library page and select Davidson County Community College from the list of libraries.

Sign into the DCCC Library using your Stormtrac Username and Password.

On the Finish Setting Up screen, select the Yes option that you are 13 years or older. Name and email address are optional. This completes the setting up process.

Swipe right or tap the icon in the top-left corner to open the Home menu. Swipe left to close it.

BOOKSHELF: This page shows all the books you have checked out and downloaded to the Overdrive App.

* Books may be checked out from multiple institutions at a time. Every institution will have a different login process. Contact the hosting library for information about their Overdrive login process.

ACCOUNT: Manage your account information.

SETTINGS: Change download settings, Audiobook and eBook settings. Clear history or cookies.

FILES: See all eBook or Audiobook files downloaded to phone.

HISTORY: See history of checkouts and how to delete history.

HELP: Get extra help or information about how to use Overdrive.

ABOUT: Information about the version of Overdrive.

Add a Library

Select the menu button (three lines) in the top left corner of the screen and select Add a library.

From navigation screen, select the "Add a Library" option.

 

Search for your Library, Davidson County Community College, and select Davidson from the list of results.

If it asks for a login, use your stormtrac username and password. Other libraries will have different login criteria, such as a library card number.

Checking Out eBooks

Checking Out eBooks in Overdrive

Browse the DCCC Library Overdrive page to find a book. Use the search bar, or browse one of the sections such as Newly Added.

Once you have found a book, open the page to see more information about the title.

BORROW: Select the BORROW button to check out the eBook.

ADD TO WISH LIST: Save this book for later.

HOLD: If the book is currently checked out, a HOLD button will appear where the BORROW button is located.

* A book placed on hold will check out to you automatically when it is returned. If there are multiple people waiting on a book, Overdrive will tell you what number of people ahead of you in line for that book.

Confirm your checkout by selecting the BORROW button once more. Once you have successfully checked out a book, it will show a page with the due date, the number of books you can still borrow from Overdrive, and the download options.

DUE DATE: eBooks downloaded from Overdrive are automatically deleted after two week. They can be borrowed again if there is no hold on the book.

CHECKOUT LIMIT: Overdrive allows up to five items to be checked out at a time. Items can be returned early on the Loan or Bookshelf pages.

DOWNLOAD: Select the EPUB download to read your book in the Overdrive App. Once the book is downloaded you can read it even when you are offline.

VIEW CHECKOUTS: To view the books you have checked out, select the Icon that looks like a stack of books on the DCCC Library overdrive page. This opens a list of Loans (items you have checked out), Holds, and your Wish List. If you did not download your book to the Overdrive App previously, you can do so on this page.

Once the book is downloaded, it will appear on the Bookshelf page of the Overdrive App.

Swipe right or tap the icon in the top-left corner to open the Home menu. Select Bookshelf.

Tap the eBook cover to open and swipe through using your finger. Tap screen once to show additional options, such as table of contents, brightness, and text size.

 

RETURNING eBOOKS: Overdrive books are automatically returned after 14 days. If you wish to return a book early, click the EDIT button in the top right of Overdrive's Bookshelf page. Select Return for the book you would like to return. EBooks can also returned on the Loans page on the DCCC Library overdrive webpage.

To access Overdrive on a computer, open the Overdrive Website for DCCC Library.

SIGN IN: Select the Sign In option and input your StormTrac Username and Password.

SEARCH: Select the magnifying glass icon to search for titles, authors, or subject areas.

READ NOW IN BROWSER: Read an ebook through your browser window.

RENEW: Checkout book for an extra 14 days. Will not renew if there is hold on the book from another student.

RETURN: Return a book at any time by selecting the return option.
