How do I get a library card?

DCCC students, faculty, staff as well as members of the community are eligible for library cards by completing the Library Account Application Form online or in person.    

Library cards are issued to the community borrowers who can provide valid, current, North Carolina government-issued photo identification that contains information verifying their residence in a neighboring NC county. 


How do I access journals, magazines, and newspapers?‚Äč

Journals, magazines, and newspapers are available by way of library databases, searchable from the library homepage. DCCC students, faculty, and staff should enter their StormTrac username and password for access to all library databases. Community borrowers are provided a remote password for access to databases provided by NC LIVE, available via NCLive.org.


How do I get research help from a DCCC librarian?

DCCC Librarians provide research help online or face-to-face. To get help, complete the Contact a DCCC Librarian Form.

How many items can I check out and for how long?

DCCC students, faculty, and staff may check out ten books, three DVDs, seven pieces of Digital Production Lab equipment. 
Community borrrower may check out two items: two books, one book and one DVD, or two DVDs. 

Books lend for 14 days and may be renewed for an additional seven days. DVDs and Digital Production Lab equipment lends for seven days and may be renewed for an additional seven days. Other equipment lends for one day with no renewals. The renewal limit for all items is two times. Items requested by another patron may not be renewed.  


How do I suggest a book or DVD the library should purchase?

Purchase suggestions can be submitted via DCCC Library's online Suggestion Box


I don't come to campus. How do I use the library. 

Most of the Library’s materials and services are available digitally.

Library databases can be accessed with your StormTrac username and password. 

You can get print materials delivered to and from your location for free. Contact the library via phone at (336) 447-2727 or email at library@davidsonccc.edu to request delivery. Materials obtained via interlibrary loan may also be delivered for free. 


What do I do if the library doesn't have a book, video, or article that I need? 

DCCC Library offers interlibary loan, a service where DCCC Library borrows books and articles from other libraries. DCCC students, faculty, and staff may borrow items through interlibrary loan at no charge. Complete the Interlibrary Loan Form to make a request.
